Is there no possibility of insurance through your current work? As a small business employer, our two employees always had insurance through their husbands. But when a new employee needed insurance, we were willing to contribute to insurance through the company that does our payroll etc. We pay about half, she pays the other half. (However, depending on your income and state, you might get cheaper with ACA subsidy). You can't afford to be uninsured, whatever you do.

Check out the Mr Money Mustache blog for inspiration on how to cut your living expenses. You might find that you CAN afford insurance if you cut expenses in other ways.
Also, I loved the Tightwad Gazette books.

And, long term, look towards ways to boost your income. Side hustle? Lateral transfer for more money?

Basically, the answers to money issues are spend less, earn more at your main job, and/or earn extra money at a second job, side hustle or by getting a roommate.
