Still binge watching the Korean dramas. (Although I get on my exercise bike every night for 40 minutes while watching them. Thanks Traveler for the motivation!)

I’ve decided:
It must be hella cold in Korea, as most shows look like an ad for Burlington Coat Factory!

I still, literally cannot tell the difference between the “pretty” girls and the “plain” girl in the stories. They are all beautiful. It’s like watching a movie where Cindy Crawford is the “pretty” girl and Claudia Schiffer is the “plain” girl.

Beautiful Korean men are REALLY beautiful.

Men wearing makeup is apparently more of a trend there.

The easiest Korean word to read is - smallpox? Why would that be in the beginner lessons on Duolingo?? If I ever travel to Korea I’m ready if there’s a smallpox outbreak!

Watching them is pure escapism. It’s a relief from the pain of the last few years. It makes me think that maybe I will date again sometime in the future, after this year of mourning is passed. At the same time though, it makes me feel my age.

I remember CMM telling me Korea was one of his favorite places he traveled to on business - I wish now I had asked him more about that!

If any man ever wooed me with k-drama tropes, I just might call him oppa! Lolol

I think I’ve discovered another reason I like these Korean dramas - aside from the obvious sheer escapism after 3 hard years. I was watching a particular scene the other day, and it reminded me of a first date with someone from my past. It’s a delightful memory, and it was nice to be reminded of it. I guess I feel lucky that, even though I was with my exH for 26 years, that I dated enough other men before and after him to have nice memories like these. And these shows often remind me of those moments.

PS fun party game to play while watching k-dramas - looking for doppelgängers. I first noticed an actor that looked like a Korean doppelgänger of a white guy I know - same face shape and devastating smile. Then I found Korean doppelgängers for actors Joseph Gordon Levitt and Catherine Zeta Jones, and one for John Lennon. smile

And another thing about the K-dramas that I like - they often show the guy's excitement at making a date with a girl. Something that's just not shown much in American film or TV (because guys are supposed to be "too cool" for that) even though we all know that it happens. Sweet.

Stopped to visit a couple I’ve known since my kids were in grade school. The topic of my ex came up, and the word the husband used to describe my exH was “unctuous”! Lolol. Good word.

lol--the last time I used "unctuous" in a sentence was probably SAT or GRE prep!

Quote from the current K-drama (talking to someone with a recently failed first love):

1) "You - will never fall in love like that again."

2) "That's supposed to be exciting?"

1) "What's the point of doing it all over again? Opening up your heart and giving someone access to every piece of you? That's not the only way a person can love. You can shun puddles and put out fires at the same time. Love doesn't have to be suffocating. It can be nice and breezy. You'll experience it. Just be patient. "

Saw this meme today: “Think about how much you’ve grown since the event you thought would end you”
