Ha! D3 was as healthy as a horse until she hit two - but this last year she has had a variety of respiratory ailments all of which seem to end up with her throwing up in bed. I've turned into a finely honed machine, with bedding bundles and enzyme cleaner pre-staged in the closet - so as soon as it happens I have her and the bed cleaned up within 5 minutes.
Weekend was good and productive - this may be the first time in my life I get all of the pre-Christmas "work" done before Thanksgiving so that I can enjoy the season.
Had a little extra time this evening and put together a box of belongings for STBX. He really didn't leave much behind:

I continue to have some grudging admiration for how completely he and OW cleaned out his stuff......I considered including the stash of porn that I came across (who knew he had such a thing for large posteriers?) - but I'm guessing OW wouldn't like that so I just tossed. :-)

Signed off on Refinance papers this morning (STBX signed yesterday afternoon).
In order to make up for suddenly becoming a single income household , I needed 4 things:
1. Refinance (complete) 2. File taxes as Head of Household)- STBX has agreed to let me claim the kids so I can do this. 3. STBX needed to help out with daycare expenses for D3 (he will do this) 4. I need a 8% raise - still working on this one but feel confident I can make it happen in the next year.
Feeling some giant relief!

About the raise, ask for what you need! I can tell by reading here you're worth at least 8% more. (and the gender gap is 19%)

I probably phrased that poorly- I really need to increase my income by 8%. My company is pretty rigid on raises - and my boss already totally went to bat for me and got the biggest allowable annual raise this summer. I do have an interview (with current company) for an interesting position next Thursday. I just have to be careful that with increased pay I don't take on a crushing amount of new responsibilities as the work life balance is extra important right now.

Georgiabelle- Not knocking the posteriors at all - just a little surprised as my own backside is merely appropriately proportioned to my 5'10 frame, and he did find me attractive at some point.
Anyway - I was poking some fun at him with my list- but I'm aware there is something a little more serious running underneath. The fact that he had so little to remove really speaks to how he was never really engaged in the household. I asked him repeatedly over the years for some photos from his side of the family to hang, but he never followed through. I always asked him about decorating decisions etc, and he never cared much (or at all). Even "his" area in the garage was completely devoid of anything personal. And now he's just moved on to another woman and her household.
Got up early this morning to knock out a couple pumpkin pies before the turkey goes in the oven. Woke up to find two daughters and three kitties snuggled up wth me and two enormous dogs sacked out on the floor as close as they could get to us. Made a fire so that the house would be nice and cozy warm, got out the "Thanksgiving" china that my mom handed down to me and I just look around and realize that there is so much good in our life. There really is. Its a shame that STBX either can't see it or doesn't value it in the same way right now. It is his loss. And I will not let it define me or my holidays.
I know that many of us are adjusting to an empty seat at the table or changed traditions that are not of our choosing. I bet most of us still have a lot of bounty in our lives though.
Here's raising a glass (sparkling apple cider right now and a nice zinfandel later)to all of you and your families right now.
