I would take the money out of the accounts

ask your L on this
but if he takes it and then leaves the country
You may not be able to get the money back
no matter what the contract says

I saw even with the legal system...there is only so much that can be done
especially if they go in hiding like mine did

~J~ Last night I dropped H off at the ap. We're civil. Proceeding as planned. I had him sign the vehicle I drive over to me. I know where he's going & will be (for the most part) until he's back at work. He has to come back here for something in March,. We'll figure out visits with D3.

MIL wants to move here! Not a surprise. She's here for another week & says she wants to come back after she does her dr's appts.

As for me, at bedtime, I had to comfort a very emotional D3. She said bye to Daddy. He'd prepped her for days that he was going. (Not sure what he said. I say traveling, & then work). She was awake when he left, but wanted him back to tuck her in. It was really hard. She's so smart, articulate & full of emotions. I knew she'd have a harder transition at this age, even if our sitch was different. I'll have to do the same next week with MIL too. Oh my girl.

That's all for now.

Taking a break from the boards. I'll update once in a while.

Thank you all for the tremendous support.

Before MIL moves to live near (or with?) you, I would tell her about H's infidelity. It's great that you get along with her and she could be an enormous help with your daughter, but that's a big life change for her to make and it could be complicated if she doesn't know the whole truth. Imagine, for example, she sacrifices to move near you. You then start dating a new guy and she gets her nose out of joint because you have moved on too soon - but she doesn't know that the REASON you've moved on is that her son cheated on you.

It may also damage her relationship with her son if she so pointedly sides with you in the divorce. That's fine if she is ready for that, but she really should have all the information to make an informed choice before making such a big life change. Also, you need to think how comfortable will you be dating with her around? Will she be a conduit of information back to your ex that you would rather not have?

Just things to consider.

Also - how old is MIL? If her health starts to fail and she's with you, will it fall to you to care for her in her old age? Is that a commitment you are willing to take on?

CanBird,

I do hope that you are still reading the postings to you. It's okay if you are taking a break from the forum, but please re-read what kml posted to you.

Wishing you all of the best and the door is always open here for you to return and post.

She's on the young side. I can't think that far ahead either.
