Todays song. Jimmy Buffett

Now young Mr. Moon flew away in the night
With his best friend Magnus right by his side
They soared through the Milky Way counting the stars
Once around Venus, twice around Mars

Then they spied an island rise out of the sea
They fell back to Earth just as free as you please
The children all gathered the church bells did ring
Suddenly everyone started to sing

[Chorus:]
Chanson pour les petits enfants
Chanson pour toute le monde
Chanson pour les petits enfants
Chanson pour toute le monde

Queen of the island she welcomed them in
Asked them questions of where they have been
She offered them chocolate she offered them tea
They all took their seats in the top of a tree

And raccoons brought wine and the mice they brought cheese
Beautiful birds floated by on the breeze
From out of the oceans the dolphins began
Humming a tune that soon covered the land

[Chorus]

So young Princess Lia brought coral and pearls
Gifts to the travelers from some other world
The Bush doctor mixed up a magical spell
Swore them to secrecy, never to tell

So young Mr. Moon flew away in the night
With his best friend Magnus right by his side
The sun was rising, they'd be home by noon
Humming the words to this magical tune

[Chorus]

Song for the children
Song for the world

Hey,

Any Minnesotans reading this ever been to the Underwater World at the MOA? I am suppose to go there Monday and really not sure what to expect or know how long the exhibit is (time wise). looked on-line but really couldn't get a feel for how much time I should plan for there.

Thanks

Hope everyone had a good weekend. I did. The B-shift firefighters got together to entertain the kids. Since our merge, there are more younger firefighters with kids and they try to get together at least 1 a month if possible. The Guys take a day and spend it all with the kids…that way they get a pass to go ice fishing a couple times a year.

Most of the guys have daughters. There are usually 8 girls and 2 boys that show up. I don’t have any kids but it is good team building and they invite me to come along. This weekend we took them to the Zoo and then bowling. The kids got a little tired about the middle of the second game but they sure seemed to enjoy it.

The guys from B-shift are getting together to play Texas HOld-Em today. They all got permission from their wives to play. Not exactly what I was hoping for after the weekend. Would have much rather went on a cycle ride or golfing.

My xw didn't like gambling. She was a real Numbers person (High ranking accountant at her company). 5 bucks or 500...she really didn't care she just hated it. Now me on the other hand, I hung out with people who enjoyed it. Did a bit of it myself. She told me she hated it so I pretty much stopped. On occasion, she would hear of a card game and give me the nod to go. It wasn't like permission, I respected her view on it and it really didn't bother me that much. On occasion, I would be out with the guys and would play some pull-tabs (offered at most bars in minnesota) but I kept it in check as I kept myself to an allowance and didn't like to explain why I wrote 2 or 3 checks in one night.

The subject of gambling has come up again in my past. I've had to ask myself if there is a problem. Do I have a problem? Do other people see something I don't? So last year after hearing it again, I quit. I've been to the casino a few times for Buffett, played the state pool tournament at Canturbury Downs were there is gambling along with horse racing, and been out with people who still play pull-tabs. I've had an urge or two but I haven't given in. Kinda like being at a concert and you get a wiff of that really good high buck weed and remember when you use to smoke (unless you are Clinton or still smoke).

I knew I could always give it up for someone else. Never really challenged myself to give it up for me. Why should I? it was fun, exciting. But I did. I don't know the exact date I last played, but I know it has been over a year. One less character flaw.

Sorry guys, can't play, going on a motorcycle ride. See ya later.

jak,

I'm with you go with the cycle ride OR golf is always good unless you're like me and can't put to save your life. Where I live we have lots of gambling boats. I hate to go. If I have $20.00 in my pocket I KNOW I have $20.00. I don't really care if others do it though some people just enjoy it and it doesn't seem to be a problem. Do you really think that it was a problem for you?

Hey Beth,
Sorry I didn't extend a happy birthday to you on your post but now that you are here, Happy Birthday (late)

I like a good game now and then so I have played. I've never had to say no because I have always had my own money. I've quit for others, but not for me. I didn't think I would have a problem saying no and it turns out, I didn't. I just didn't know what others were seeing that this would be an issue. There were times when it was a little harder to say no. Easy Money does have a lure.

Well isn't gambling the same as any other addiction in that if you HAVE to gamble or do it even though you can't afford to then it's problematic? A friend here who's husband is a gambler gambles money he doesn't have and gambles away money that he needs to live on.

What you're describing sounds harmless enough. If it's occasional, and it's pure fun, then why not?

Go, have fun, male bond! (that doesn't sound right)

Oh just for your information, it wasn't my birthday. Don't ask. It's a longgggggggggggggg story.

Song from Phenomenon sung by Jewell

When the road gets dark
And you can no longer see
Just let my love throw a spark, baby
Have a little faith in me

When the tears you cry
Are all you can believe
Just give these loving arms a try, baby
Have a little faith in me

Have a little faith in me
Have a little faith in me
Have a little faith in me
Have a little faith in me

When your secret heart
Cannot speak so *easily*
Come here darlin'
From a whisper start
To have a little faith in me

When your back's against the wall
Just turn around, you will see
I will catch ya, I will catch your fall
Just have a little faith in me

Have a little faith in me
Have a little faith in me
Have a little faith in me
Have a little faith in me

Well, I've been loving you for such a long, long time baby
Expecting nothing in return
Just for you to have a little faith in me
You see time, time is our friend *for you and me*
Cause for us there is no end
All you gotta do is have a little faith in me
I said I will hold you up, I will hold you up
Your strength gives me enough
So have a little faith in me
Hey baby, oh, baby
All ya gotta do is have a little faith in me
All ya gotta do is have a little faith in me
A little faith in me

Got an email from the chief today regarding a story done on our merge and one of the captains of our dept. (I am in some of the background footage.) Some great views of a large fire we had last year, some other good footage and a pretty good story. Hope you view/enjoy it.
