Ellie,

I want to try Byetta SO BADLY!! But, the pediatrician gave it a thumbs down because it is too new to know about it and breastfeeding. So, if you happen to see anything on that, I'd love to know.

I didn't realize that metformin can help with weight loss. That is good to know. I will really try to schedule that endo appointment this week. If it is going to take awhile to see him, then maybe I'll try to get my primary to prescribe it.

Best,
Oldtimer

Ellie,

Still, he has acquired a brilliant education in business in a few short months, I'm sure that knowledge will come in handy in the future.

I know in IT the era of specialization has changed. Specialists have to keep changing specialties to follow the market, but generalists who know business and tech and communication and people always find work.

Do you think H agrees with your "looking on the bright side" assessment?

I struggle to find enough time and energy throughout the week to work on the work-related things I want to be doing (such a writing new patient education materials, etc.).

How about taking a NaNoWriMo-style approach, and breaking it down into so many words a day as a goal, then doing your best to at least write something each day? I didn't hit 2k yesterday; I'll spend a lot of time shopping and cooking on Sunday, but I'm going to keep at it whether I make my daily quotas or not. Sooner or later, I'll have my draft, as long as I just keep doing my best to do something. Baby steps add up over time.

he is currently quite motivated by the prospect of being able to graduate a year early. He has set himself an ambitious schedule to make that happen, and so far he is sticking to it.

Sounds like a plan.

Last weekend we celebrated my mom's 75th birthday. My sister and I gave her a present - a trip to Paris in the fall with both of us!

Cool! Uh, wait a second. Did you ever see the "Night Court" episode where John Larroquette welcomes his parents to NYC from their native Paris? Paris, Louisiana. You mean the big Paris, right?

So who's learning French in your family now?

I figure S20's best chance at finding the nerdy girl for him is right there at Berkeley, so he'd better make good use of his time there!

"Nerdy girl?" What about opposites attracting, complementarity and all that.

D16 is doing okay. She's a little upset that S15 might graduate high school before her!
Any chance that would be a motivator to her, or is it more likely to annoy her?

I may ask some medical questions, but not for me. It's for a friend. Really. No, seriously, I might want to ask for the sake of realism in my novel. One of the characters is ill already, and we're less than 2k into it.

Thanks,

Joe

Hey there, Joe -

Yes, he does.

LOL!!! Yes, that's exactly what I should do.

My sister studied it in school, and my mom will learn some between now and then. I can speak a couple of languages but French just doesn't come to me - I can't make those sounds. I can read the signs in the Louvre, though, and navigate the Metro, so I'm set.

Ah, I think S's best shot is a nerdy girl - plus that's his preference (of course, he wants a girl just like the girl who married dear old dad!). Picture Napoleon Dynamite. ;\)

Her school doesn't have that option - S15's school is totally self-paced. So - it will just annoy her!

I'll watch for your email.

I'm at nikkib at surewest.net (replace the at with @).

I am so far behind on your sitch, need to catch up. But from reading the last few days of posts everything looks GREAT, so glad to see it.

Ellie,

Thanks again for all the help with the writing. I'm behind, but I probably should have done a lot of the research I'm doing now before the starting gun went off. That would have been allowed under the NaNoWriMo rules in November, too.

I"ll write something tonight so it won't be a big, fat zero in my spreadsheet, but I may miss my March 31 deadline. Oh, well.

Any news on your brother's case that you want to share? Or just any need to vent some more of it?

Thanks for the offer to knock sense into me, and the kind words about how I did at the end of my marriage. It felt good to read that.

Thanks,

Joe

Hey Ellie, I just wanted to pop in and tell you that the comment that you made about me and Swashy was really wonderful and made my entire weekend so much brighter.

I don't know that it is completely justified, but I appreciate the compliment

Ian
