Journaling (Isn't that what you call it when your thread is really boring and nobody responds): I printed a job posting today to take in for MM. She wants to find a new job and one of my best friends manages a large program which employs PSW's, which is what MM is. These jobs provide benefits and a better salary and are unionized. The hiring process is ongoing. I sent an email to my friend just to find out what the actual hiring situation is there at the moment. MM works for a private employer who pays, well, piss all. I didn't mention to her that I had connections in her field yesterday, I don't know why. MM also told me that a disabled client she works with is thinking of moving out of the home she works in and into his own apartment. He would need to hire a PSW and he wondered if she'd be interested. Here was our conversation: Me: Yeah, but he's a man and you're a woman and you'd be there alone with him! MM: He's in a wheelchair, what's he gonna do to me? Me: Hey, he's still got...uh... male feelings, if you know what I mean MM: Not from the waist down he doesn't Me: But he's still got hands!!!! MM: I've worked with him for four years, he's fine. It wouldn't be for a while anyway, if at all. What do I sound like there folks? OMG! Anyway, today it is 84 F in my apartment. I have finished the laundry, grocery shopping, taking out the garbage and recycle, and I'm onto dishes. Soon I can sit back in my sweat box and just watch the pounds effortlessly pour off my bod.
Well, Voldemort and the kids are back from the cottage. She phones me, with barely a hello, and starts going on about the kids cell phone package! WTH gets back from the cottage and the first thing they think about is the kids cell phone package? Of course, the kids are tired and grouchy but does that stop Voldemort...Noooo! She's on a mission, cell phone must be decided NOW. Poor kids, glad I don't live with her anymore. What a fruit loop.
It's a very emotional day in Canada today, we lost a well loved politician, Jack Layton. To be a politician and be well loved is a feat in itself! Yet, Jack has a special place in my heart, he cared about people. When my Dad was first hospitalized with Cancer I ran into Jack downtown and asked him if he'd call Dad in the hospital. Jack was supposed to be going up on stage to do his politician thing but that didn't matter, he said "Let's do it right now, Whatis" and he did. My Dad was a long time member of the NDP and supported Jack. I remember Jack saying over and over "No, really Bob, it's Jack Layton" He said "I'm here at Dundas Square with your family. Hey, we both have Olivia's in our lives" He talked at length with Dad about the prognosis and encouraging him. At one point his aide starting urging him to get up to the stage and Jack said "When I'm finished, I'm talking to Bob" At that moment Dad was what was important to Jack. That's the man Jack was and there are endless stories of his caring towards people out there. So, I know that when Jack enters those Pearly Gates my Dad will be waiting to greet him. They both died of the same horrible disease only months apart. Rest in peace Jack and Dad.
He sounds like he was an awesome guy. How lucky Canada was to have him. I get the sneaky suspicion that he was on of those angels that come into people's lives.

Kat, another thing I always admired about Jack was the love he seemed to have for his wife, Olivia. Even in national election debates he would bring up Olivia! He was always telling the world about his wonderful wife. Most politicians are quiet about their spouses but Jack wanted the world to know. I loved that about him.
Sounds like a marvelous man Wii. What a kind thing to do for your dad, I honestly don't know of any politician here that would take that kind of time out of their day unless it was being televised for good press during a campaign.

Mish, they just released a letter that he wrote to the Canadian people two days before his death. In it he told Canadians fighting cancer not to give up hope because his outcome wasn't what he'd hoped for. He went on to encourage people and tell them that treatments are the best ever...The man is dying and he's writing a letter telling others "don't be discouraged" Wow!
I had a nice break with MM today. I asked her if we could talk privately because I didn't want anyone hearing about the job posting I was giving her. She was very happy because she's really feeling badly about her work situation. She told me she may be taking the private position that I noted in an earlier post, where I sound like the protective bf! If so it will be in about a months time. She also told me that she tried the yoga exercises from the book I gave her last week...and didn't go out all weekend because her back hurt so badly afterwards...oops! Well, that's one way to keep her from other guys lol! At least she was laughing about it. I told her that I didn't go out either except to the doctor where I found I had Bronchitis. She empathized, made a sad face and then said that maybe it's because my apartment is so hot or maybe...hey, she sounded like she actually cares!
At lunch I bought my food and was walking out and saw MM going through her bag. I asked what she was having for lunch, she giggles and said "just bread, I was too lazy to cook last night" I said "you're not eating bread for lunch" and handed her my plate of food. She said "NO, this is yours!" I said "I'll buy another, but you will not be eating bread for your lunch today" The clients suddenly started oohing and "oh that's so sweet" Yes, another public spectacle. I couldn't just let her eat bread!
