Gee, could they have loaded that house with more triggers for you? Maybe the dried bouquet from your wedding? Or a frozen piece of your wedding cake?

Ahhhh ... sweet corn.

Yes. Wedding memories. I still love to remember it. It was a great day.

You do well with Dan and his family. I haven't mastered that yet.

Well....they have been part of my family since I was 16 years old...and I know I didn't cause this so it's not like I have to hang my head around them. smile Besides, SIL and I were literally locker partners beforehand, friends since about 4th grade. My other SIL, mother of the graduate, took me aside and thanked me for coming, so did niece. In fact MIL gave me a mother's day card earlier this month, complete with $$, just like every year before.

Conversely Dan has shown his face around my family only a handful of times. My mom misses him actually but so it goes, his choices are his and mine are mine.

Don't they say that the flu takes at least 7 days of misery to start getting out of your system and another 7 days to recover?

Man, seeing that flower girl dress probably would have put me on the floor bawling my face off. Good job not reacting to it. I'm SO impressed!

Are you feeling any better this morning?

Well, I wouldn't say I didn't react at all....the kids didn't notice but if you had looked in the playroom you would have seen me sitting on a tiny kid's chair, holding the dress and stroking it lovingly for a minute or two... blush frown Part of me wanted to take it. My niece is now 18 and her younger sister is 14, they won't be playing dress up anymore. They just leave that stuff in there for when my kids and my other SIL's kids come over...

Pretty much the whole house was a trigger...the basement family room is where we have celebrated Christmas for the past 5 or 6 years, Dan and I have spent the night in the guest bedroom several times, etc etc. However I decided to remember those times fondly and leave it at that.

I am a mixed bag today. Woke up running 99.5, not bad. However, still can't take a full breath without coughing and now instead of a dry cough some lovely brown stuff comes out (sorry TMI!)...I am going to call the doc and double check that I shold fill the Rx he gave me last week for antibiotics, 'just in case'...

If what you're coughing up has color to it you probably have an infection. Definitely call the doctor!

I understand the triggers. It sometimes seems like everywhere you turn there is a memory attached to it. As long as you can leave them at fond memories and not painful ones you are doing very well.

Yes, BBJ call the Dr. Tell them about the breathing part and let them know how many days. Pneumonia "as a secondary infection to the flu" is swift and can be fatal if not carefully watched.

There did I scare you yet? Call the Dr. I'm not messing with you, with a return of fever there is concern.

Do it now!

Going to doc today. Kept waking up last night due to sore throat and cough. More yucky colored crap today and cannot take a full breath without pain/coughing, for day #8...

Just realized this morning that June is sneaking up on me...that is when I told Dan he could pay me the settlement, which was officially due May 1.

Quick question, do any of you know if there is some sort of tax implication/consequence to me getting this settlement? I really don't see why there should be, it is OUR money that we already had, I am just getting my half of it. I mean, I don't have to pay any taxes bc I kept the bedroom set, or the couch, etc etc. Make sense? So I don't know if I will owe anything for getting my half of our finances back from him...

It depends, I think. If he's getting it out of a retirement account through a QDRO you have to put it in a retirement account or you have to pay the normal tax penalties.

I'm likely to get $15k or so in the settlement with all of it coming from her retirement accounts so if I use it to pay debt I'll have a big tax bill next year.

Otherwise, I don't think it's income. But I'm no expert and owe the IRS $3,000.
