Doc,

I've been following your progress and am very happy that W is responding the way she has. Don't get complacent and keep up the good work! smile

Journaling…
Today was GREAT. The first two days I was having a hard time in one of my classes and all of a sudden today the light came on…. I get it now...
I don’t really know how to describe my feelings about going back to school except maybe the feeling one gets when they find the Lord. NOT comparing the two but I feel like I have a purpose now. A reason to get up in the morning.
Just finished my homework that is not due until next Tuesday. This will give me time to do some extra credit stuff.
Boy things are sure different than when I was in high school. Back then I could not wait to hit the beach after school… Homework?? No way
Ok I have something for those of you that have been with me for a while. I have a class that is using the “DiSC” behavior study. Part of this test says that in a conflict situation I

1. Tend to avoid open direct conflict
2. Tend to become emotionally expressive
3. Tend to minimize negative information
4. May become impulsive
5. Tend to take a direct aggressive approach

Any of this sound familiar?
There are some more things but reading back this does sound like how I have been dealing with my sitch. I have 4 more weeks of this class so hopefully I can learn how to change and maybe this will help my marriage.
Speaking of marriage. I will be journaling here but PLEASE if you see me doing things that may set me back in my R let me know.
Daybreak... what did you mean by “Don't get complacent”?

Keep me on track folks; I have come too far these last two years to blow it now

Hey, what's up, Doc.

It brings a smile to my face to hear your enthusiasm for and embracing of your new educational opportunity. You are indeed on track -- and your immeasurable patience continues to pay off. I'm not talking just about your W, but she is included.

I recalled the following as I heard you reflecting on this new start -- I hope you enjoy it as much as I do:

Quote:
Who's got all the girlies chasing him around?
Freddy the Freshman, the freshest kid in town!

Now, who wrecks all the parties, and turns them upside-down?
Freddy the Freshman, the freshest kid in town!

He plays the ukulele, he plays the saxophone,
And the pretty babies just won't leave him alone!

Who got bounced at Harvard, Princeton, Yale and Brown?
Freddy the Freshman, the freshest kid in town!

Alpha! Beta! Gamma! Have a piece of pie,
Boola! Boola! Boola! The goose is hanging high.

Alpha! Delta! Skelta! Latin is the bunk!
Have a cup of coffee! And let those donuts dunk!

Oh, here's to old Virginia, Ohio and Purdue,
And here's to you, professor! A great big kiss for you!

Beta! Theta! Kappa! Let's pass the cake around,
To Freddy the Freshman, the freshest kid in town!

Boola, boola, he goes to school-a
Just to foola, he loves to foola,
Sarsaparilla, sinfronella,
He's a swell-a, swell-a fella!

Rah! Rah! Yah-ta-ta! That's his college yell,
Baggy pants, crazy dance, it's Freddy; can't you tell?

grin

I like it NoCodeBlues,

It is interesting. The college I am attending specializes in LAW, Technology and Medical.
The biggest student population is in Medical. And it's not doctors but medical support like nurses and such. AND 97% of the Medical students are female. They are required to wear their "scrubs" to school. Makes me want to get a check up. laugh
Today I got to school early so I sat in the student lounge to look over my homework. Out of about 30 students in the lounge I was the only male. grin
Good thing I am married because I could see if I was single how my studies might be compromised. blush
Today in my career transitions class (positive thinking class) we went over some stuff that I recognized was in the positive thinking self help book my sister in law bought my wife. When we got home I showed her and we had a real good conversation about how our minds work and compared notes… smile

Well got to go get the Mustang. It is the end of my first week at school and I am going to drive it to school tomorrow. Kind of weird that the mustang is older than half the students...

One more thing. Above the entrance of the school is a sign that says….

“I will study and prepare myself so that when my opportunity comes,
I will be ready”

By Abraham Lincoln

Kind of sounds like DBing……..

Doc,

I meant that you are on a really good roll right now and it just human nature to start backing off the gas a bit to enjoy the scenery. You have a strong path forward with your schooling and it helps that W is interested in what you are learning so keep her in the loop with your successes as well as your rough patches...

IT's Friday....

Journaling...

Last night I was talking to wife about one of my classes on self esteem. I told her about in a week, the president of the college will be in class and we are going to be taking a picture of ourselves in a "cap n gown' with the president. This Picture is for us to use as our "goal".
When I got home from school today wife was all smiles. She told me to listen to this and proceeded to read a chapter from the book her sister got her "making your mind magnificent". She reads this book while waiting for son at school.
Anyway she started reading about how the author of the book (Steven Campbell) tells how in a class he was taking he had a picture of himself taken with the school president wearing his cap and gown for inspiration.....
I tell you this class is opening up a door for communication for us. Not only is she reading a "self help book" that she said in the past she doesn't like self help books. But we can compare notes and talk about how we feel about things I am learning and things she has read.
Well got ta go do some more homework I'll update if anything changes
