Dizzy spells- lightheaded or room spinning? Fluttery heart beat?

I have had vestibular neuritis- antivert took care of that but sinus infections can bring on the vertigo.
Have had hypo and hyper thyroidism- both left me weak and have spells of dizziness. The hyper was accompanied with heart problems needing Inderal to treat.
There of course there is the dizziness caused from low blood sugar and eating protein and a carb pared together takes care of that.

Poor sleep can bring it on- always dizzy with severe lack of sleep.

Of course there are worse things like Lupus, MS, etc. acoustic nerve inflammation called vestibular neuritis (lasts about a year).

Only reasons I can come up with for dizziness at the moment- I know there are a millions reasons why.

If you are a worst case scenario thinker- no it could not be a brain tumor- very unlikely. Was a neuro nurse and the only tumors that start out with dizziness are acoustic neuroma's and they are not too common and you have to be a lot older. Otherwise all most all brain tumors are metastatic or primary and the primary always have seizures.

Good luck getting it resolved.

My mom had that, it all sounds pretty serious to me...

What- acoustic neuroma? Yes, it is very, very serious but as for tumors it is one of the ones I would choose if I had to have one. That or a meningioma or mets the others are really, really horrible= hallucination, severs headaches, lots of seizures- really awful. The gliomas are the worst- *shudder*

Sorry your mother has to have that...

I have not read about a genetic link for that particular tumor- I really have no idea. I just know that it's almost always a woman and an older woman. Seems to always have a good surgical outcome from what I saw. Quicker recovery like a mets tumor.

Kalni, I'm sorry to read about your symptoms. Don't borrow troubles though!

Glad to read that you're having some good conversations with your mother. Continue to wish all of you well as you support your father.

And it's so nice to be able to say "i miss you" and have a "warm fuzzy response" smile

Yes, my mom had that. It took a 12 hour operation by a micro neuro syrgery team in Wurzburg Germany to get rid off it, and she was one of the lucky ones that overcame it completely with no side effects (which could be from not being able to shut her eyelids to not be able to smile or even worse walk !!).

She lost her hearing from the one ear but that was before the ops. She just didnt regain it.

Anyway, talked to the lab again. All the results so far, are VERY good he said. No diabetes, cholesterol anything I could think for I tested for and I am fine. Still waiting for my hormones, I will take those results on Monday.

I am still taking iron supplements cause the results may be good because I had been on them for 2 weeks and stopped only 2 days for the tests. But the dizzyness etc takes more time to subside.

Last time I had that, H was in deep love with OW. It was Nov-Dec 2006, 3 months into the affair. He couldnt have cared less. Now he called a couple of times and googled what my symptoms could mean and said I need to make an apt ASAP to go together... Sometimes I want to hit him on the head for being able to care, back then I thought he couldnt for some reason. Well, we know the reason now, a tall blond that looks... like chit (not at all, just saying!).

His stbxBiL lost it and made a big fuss and went to his sister's shop and called her names. My FiL is very upset.

He also took my car to fix it today, AOS... (I couldnt care less but I appreciate it-LOL)

My face looks like a dalmatian. I have dark round spots all over my cheeks. I hope they fade fast.

My dad returned home after the chemo. So far so good. He feels OK.

I am sleepy and tired. I think I will skip work on Monday.
Talk to you guys later, going home...

Sounds like all good progress - dad is doing ok, heart to heart with mom, supportive H - now to just get some rest.

Could it be emotional?

Hey K.. wow, what a week you have had. I'm glad your Dad is well enough to have more chemo and that he is back home and doing ok.

As for you..sorry you have been ill! well at least your iron is ok? Mine was too (although ferritin lowish at 30) but I also get dizzy alot. For me its either balance (often blocked ears and I get ear infections often) or its low blood pressure/blood volume - both from not having enough fluid (I forget to drink when things are crazy!), also, dizziness and palpitions from ..stress. Adrenaline can do very funny things to your body and you dont realise when you are "running on empty" but have to keep going anyway. Maybe you just need to up your fluids and get a real good rest?? I hope its nothing serious.

I'm so so glad that H continues to be more caring and ..dare I say it, like a husband !???

xxx

Hey sis, checking in on you. I follow every day even if I don't post.

Glad to see signs of life from your H (finally!) smile

Hope you find out what's causing the dizzy spells so they will go away...

Oh, thought of another reason for dizziness- Meniere's disease. It a vertigo problem but if you eat a lot of salt it can make it worse too. Again, antivert is the treatment.
The ENT does a puff of air in your ear to test for it (for that and other issues like it...). If you get dizzy it's a positive result.
