jak466,

That is a classic...... Why would she be embarrassed? If she was woman enough to do that.... She should be woman enough to own it........ That is just my "adult" take responsibility for your actions side coming out....

Take Care,

NMD

Wrapping up the last 6 hrs of my 36 hour shift. Ready for that to end.

Chief sent me an email today. Wanted to apologize to me for losing my 35W pin. (I didn't know I had one). Appearently every firefighter that responded to the bridge collapse was given a pin to wear on their class b shirt. Our chief seemed to have misplaced ours. Oh well.

Working with one of the newer guys today. His turn to cook. He is making a Japanese dinner for us.

MAN IT was hot and humid out yesturday. There was a car fire in one of the ravines in town. A car went about 75 feet off the road and down an embankment. One of the newer guys yesturday on one of our calls must have had too much to eat. Took a bit of work to get to. One of the senior guys told him there is an old saying in the business. Never eat more than can fit in your mask. I think you can guess what happened.

takin the bike out tonight. Take a backroads trip. Not think about the bridge event.

Hey NMD,

I have said things in anger, deeply regretted them, (not just to my wife, sorry B) but I just don't like to "TRY" to embarrass anyone. I have made enough general mistakes in my life to not want someone to intentionally take shots at me.

There is also a difference in taking shots and trying to discuss.

So,

Anybody got a great movie quote? Poem or Song?

Back at work today. Running hard and fast already. Had a guy jacked up on meth. looked like he was going to explode. Have to aproach those with extreme caution. He wanted help but looked like he was ready to take on all 3 of us. Thats such a sad drug. Can destroy everything in months. Makes Cocaine look like advil.

Lot on my mind today. I could probably right page after page but don't really want to go there.

Last of Summer here in Minnesota. Another month and some change and the bike goes away. Something really missing about it this year. B

All right! I'll start.

"On A Bus To St. Cloud"

On a bus to St. Cloud, Minnesota
I thought I saw you there
With the snow falling down around you
Like a silent prayer
And once on a street in New York City
With the jazz and the sin in the air
And once on a cold L.A. freeway
Going nowhere
And it's strange, but it's true
I was sure it was you
Just a face in the crowd
On a bus to St. Cloud

In a church in downtown New Orleans
I got down on my knees and prayed
And I wept in the arms of Jesus
For the choice you made
We were just gettin' to the good part
Just gettin' past the mystery
Oh, and it's just like you, it's just like you
To disagree
And it's strange but it's true
You just slipped out of view
Like a face in the crowd
On a bus to St. Cloud

And you chase me like a shadow
And you haunt me like a ghost
And I hate you some, and I love you some
But I miss you most...

On a bus to St. Cloud, Minnesota
I thought I saw you there
With the snow falling down around you
Like a silent prayer

jak,

I really like Feel It Again by Honeymoon Suite.....
-----------------------------------------------------
If you would just be sensible...you'd find me indispensable
I pray deep down to destiny
that it places you with me....
whoa...wanting you here...in the sheets
Wandrin' around incomplete......
Waiting so long....To

Chorus:
Feel it again (feel it again)
I thought that this heart would never mend
To feel it again I know this is the living end
To feel it again (feel it again)
I thought that this heart would never mend
To feel it again I know this is the living end

Another scratched or scribbled note
to handsome men in overcoat
Deception right in front of me
A jealous fantasy...
whoa...something that sets you apart...
tightens your grip on my heart...
Don't ever let it go....
'Till I

Repeat Chorus

Bridge:
All that I know (to feel it again)
is people may come and people may go
I don't really care (to feel it again)
as long as you're there
as long as you're there

(solo)

Repeat Chorus
-----------------------------------------------------
Take Care,

NMD

You can take all the tea in china
Put it in a big brown bag for me
Sail right around the seven oceans
Drop it straight into the deep blue sea
She’s as sweet as tupelo honey
She’s an angel of the first degree
She’s as sweet as tupelo honey
Just like honey from the bee

You can’t stop us on the road to freedom
You can’t keep us ’cause our eyes can see
Men with insight, men in granite
Knights in armor bent on chivalry
She’s as sweet as tupelo honey
She’s an angel of the first degree
She’s as sweet as tupelo honey
Just like honey from the bee

You can’t stop us on the road to freedom
You can’t stop us ’cause our eyes can see
Men with insight, men in granite
Knights in armor intent on chivalry
She’s as sweet as tupelo honey
She’s an angel of the first degree
She’s as sweet as tupelo honey
Just like honey from the bee

You know she’s alright
You know she’s alright with me
She’s alright, she’s alright (she’s an angel)

You can take all the tea in china
Put it in a big brown bag for me
Sail it right around the seven oceans
Drop it smack dab in the middle of the deep blue sea
Because she’s as sweet as tupelo honey
She’s an angel of the first degree
She’s as sweet as tupelo honey
Just like honey from the bee

She’s as sweet as tupelo honey
She’s an angel of the first degree
She’s as sweet as tupelo honey
Just like the honey, baby, from the bee
She’s my baby, you know she’s alright.....

A posting to the van mailing list may/96 notes the existence of a "lost verse" to this song, here transcribed from a performance on the van morrison in ireland concert video:

There’s a rose pressed inside a bible
That she reads on the balcony
She’s sweet in slumber and I’ve got her number
For the beginning of the century.

I knew you had taste fig. One of my favorites is Caravan (live version with the band) Last waltz album

How about this:

By: Jimmy Buffett
1974

Mother, mother ocean, I have heard you call
Wanted to sail upon your waters since I was three feet tall
You've seen it all, you've seen it all

Watched the men who rode you switch from sails to steam
And in your belly you hold the treasures few have ever seen
Most of 'em dream, most of 'em dream

Yes I am a pirate, two hundred years too late
The cannons don't thunder, there's nothin' to plunder
I'm an over-forty victim of fate
Arriving too late, arriving too late

I've done a bit of smugglin', I've run my share of grass
I made enough money to buy Miami, but I pissed it away so fast
Never meant to last, never meant to last

And I have been drunk now for over two weeks
I passed out and I rallied and I sprung a few leaks
But I got stop wishin', got to go fishin'
Down to rock bottom again
Just a few friends, just a few friends

(instrumental)

I go for younger women, lived with several awhile
Though I ran 'em away, they'd come back one day
Still could manage to smile
Just takes a while, just takes a while

Mother, mother ocean, after all the years I've found
My occupational hazard being my occupation's just not around
I feel like I've drowned, gonna head uptown

Coda:
I feel like I've drowned, gonna head uptown
