Your job does sound amazing. I don't want to sound like a doofus, but: Does your face get all rubbery and stretchy when you go 600mph? Or am I thinking of something else?

that’s funny, but it does not. you are going about that fast when you are in a commercial airliner as well, so most of the time you can hardly tell your speed, unless you are flying 200 feet from the ground and the world is screaming past.

Well i got the house looking pretty darn good last night, its kind of an extension of making myself look good. I remember cleaning our place before her parents would come to visit this was a lot like that only more nervous for some reason.

JWS,

It is funny you would say this. I use to have a friend that I worked with that was a carrier pilot. He told me he said these same exact words with a tone of excitment when he first started (referring to landing on carriers). A little later when he got married and had a baby girl he said the same exact words with a much different tone (mainly one of fear). Sounds like you have a great job, There was a time when I would have liked to have gone down that path or at least fly helo's in the CG, but opted for a more layman's existance.

It is good to see you are having some good exchanges with your W and things seem to be a lot more peaceful for you. Fun and happy phone converations are nice....keep up the good work

Let’s just say I know exactly how your friend feels. You would not believe how many people I hear say "I wish i was flying for the CG instead" I love my service but you guys got a pretty good life, and all the dudes I know that do it love it.

Things have been going good with her. I have been surprised by the amount of contact we have been able to maintain, school starts Monday. She is very nervous but so am I. I hope that she works hard and realizes she can lean on me through out that, and not lean other places that make her think she is making the right choice by leaving.

Right now my PMA is average, but my hopes are high and I am settling into the swing of things as her friend.

You know you say your PMA is average but from your writing you sound really positive. Maybe it is because you are talking about your job which you are passionate about. Positivity is a very attractive trait so keep it and you will emit it to your w.

She is feeling more comfortable around you. Keep it up.

Remember to listen and validate to her if she talks about her worries, she isn't looking for you to fix them. Practise your non-verbal encouraging noises, we women do that all the time! It lets people know that you are listening, taking in what they are saying but not interrupting with your own thoughts. This is an action that shows you care.

Thanks, I really like the part about nonverbal encouraging noises; I tend to speak way too much. I can tell she is way more comfortable around me, even after the hand holding thing she answered my calls twice this week, even though I called with a reason we were also able to chat about other stuff too. She gets here tonight and is either leaving Saturday night or Sunday morning. I work a half day tomorrow so she will have bit of space, and I have a guest room so no awkwardness there.

We have a few fun things we can do, and other then that this is another weekend that is all about actions and being her friend, no talking from me, except supportive about school but only a little of that so as to not over do it.

So how fast do you have to be going to get that effect where your face does get all stretched out/pulled back with G forces? Have you ever done that?

That sounds like a good plan. \:\) I like that you're leaving it open with no expectations or set agenda. It's a nice long visit, too. Sometimes the short visits can feel so pressured to cram everything in, and with this long weekend you can relax more.

Let us know how it goes and enjoy!

I'll give you my best play by play, \:\)

I get it you were talking about G forces, yes we definitely pull a lot of them and you do make some pretty funny faces. you can get that at any air speed it just depends on your pull but the faster you are the more you can pull or the longer you can sustain them. to give you an example we routinely pull 7.5 gs, this means that if you head weighs 10lbs it now ways 75lbs, witch is a lot of a neck to support. Back, and neck pain along with headaches are very common and I get all three some days. still fun. what is more funny then the faces is the sounds people make because it gets hard to breath, we record everything so sometimes that’s a good laugh.
