Hi Ellie! I read Ronni Bennet's blog about "what it is really like to get older" and she posted this video some time ago...I didn't realize that it was a whole movie!

What a DAY!

I think I mentioned that I was at a party last night and spent the evening talking with a man I know. I didn't say that I had made an appointment for this morning to come over and borrow a couple of his chickens...to be my eco-friendly bug patrol! LOL!
I brought a pet carrier over and picked up a couple of his hens. We had a very nice visit, conversation and coffee, and then I was on my way. I dropped off the hens in my back yard ( Argo was safely in the house)and let them do their magic...

Then, the phone rang. It was my neighbor/friend. This is the same girlfriend that helped me with my plumbing problems a few months ago. She is quite the fix-it gal! Anyway, her fix-it Dad is staying with her for a few weeks. Today she had to work and she knew Dad would be bored with no projects to do. So she called me and told me to go over to her house and talk to her dad about fixing my slider patio door. It has been frozen stuck with bad wheels all winter. Well, Dad came over, and while the chickens were rototilling and cleaning the yard we fixed that door. I had already checked on how much it would cost to have the glass people come out and fix it...over $250! Dad was quite the tinkerer and we took the door apart, drove to the hardware store, found new wheels ($20) and put it all back together again. It took about 3 hours! So of course I bought beers and dinner and we chilled on their patio until nearly sunset. I then went back home, corralled the chickens and took them back to their own back yard.

Dad (73!) was flirting with me!

LOL!

What a day! Oh, and hate to even say anything...but it was 90 today!

Hi Queenie!

My dog, Nelson, was the only dog who flunked obedience class. He will do all the commands at any other place but was just too distracted in class with all the other dogs, smells, etc.

This is funny! Argo has a bit of the opposite problem...He is usually great in class, but goofs off at home.

My dogs brother got rejected from Guide Dog for the Blind training, (because so I was told) he couldn't resist the odd sandwich in the gutter.
I had visions of some blind person crossing roads he didn,t want to just so puppy could have a snack! lol
My old fella did quite well at training but think senility has set in now--guess we are well suited.

SG, He was checking to see if he still "had it" and apparently, he still does ;\) Obviously he made quite an impression on the "spring chicken."

Hello Friends!

Well, AG wanted me to elaborate on the chicken part...

In my town it is legal to have a backyard flock of six or less HENS. I don't have a flock anymore, but we have kept pet chickens on and off for ages. You don't need a rooster to get eggs, and if you don't have any baby plants, the chickens will to a good job of scratching and eating whatever bugs they find. I was amazed at how many bugs I ended up having after I got rid of the coop (Through attrition, not anything else...)

Plus they are colorful and entertaining! The downside is that Argo went absolutely NUTS!
