I'll take the Cooler, thanks!

Just think, soon we might be able to get cuban cigars again!

I won't be able to play dominoes or dance the salsa, since I'm going to the Timberwolves game tonight, but if you post a good (and quick to make) Cuban dish, I will be sure to make it for dinner before the game!

I summon you in the moist hour, I raise my song to you."

Hey babes.

Castro stepping down is big news. I wonder what's going to happen there next?

That ginger ale drink sounds fab-u-lous! I think I'll take two.

You can skip the ice and ginger ale though, it's cold out today.

kisses

J

Happy Tuesday Lis!

I didn't want to miss the party so I scooted on over. I know how to salsa, can I join in? Oh and those drinks did sound wonderful!

I'm sure that there were times when your parents may have thought that this day might never come. I can't even imagine what they must be feeling right now. I'm sure a river of emotions.

I'm sending love and hugs for both of your parents, but please be sure to give you Mom a special hug for me! She is amazing!

Love,
Bethie

Well, at one time I had a thread on Castro still being alive. When is that man going to die!!! He is on FA and I's death watch list so it had better be announced soon. Rumour has it that he is dead already.

Anyhow, would love a Mojito!

May be going out on a limb here with this one, and I hope you will understand the good intent even if you decide to incinerate me by the end.

I hear what you are all saying and I agree there are bad people in the world. As I read the daily news I can't help but notice how my retirement account is going to hell, my house is losing value, and my liquor evaporates every time the boys come to town.

I am sure we don't all get to see the whole picture in Cuba. I am certain we don't all share the same painful personal past with them. But I did spend a snorkelling week with a sailing captain from the Keys who frequents the island. He says the people as a whole are magnificent and love what they have. According to him, they don't know about our economic struggles, job markets, and such ... or care. In his visits there he has become very endeared to them and finds many who do not think they are in such a terrible place. All I'm saying is that I hope when one bad man passes, another worse one won't come along.

I hope that any future changes there won't send them to the other extreme and end up leaving them longing for the quieter more peaceful days. Would it be that great if the whole country turned into another overpopulated tourist island covered in polluting factories full of overworked and underpaid folks? I can't see that helping the lines for free health care.

I hope they all experience wonderous new freedoms soon, and all the prosperity they can handle without becoming a people prostituted by the rest of the free world. We try hard and we mean well, but we are not always the best thing that happens to every other country in the world. One thing is certain, some things there are going to change one way or the other and we will be watching history change soon.

Just saying.

I understand what you are saying and will still love you lots, and let you stay in my closet.

I also understand the eyes of my father. I understand when he told the man standing next to him in line. I don't think it is right, that we HAVE to only take a shower, at a certain time, everyday. I don't think it is right, that we can only have eggs on the second thurday of every month. etc etc.

And when the man that was next to my father agreed, in a loud voice, and looked at the military men, while he agreed with my dad. He was shot point blank rage in his head.

Sooo, we will agree to disagree, in many things. And this will be one of them.

Cuba does not have to be like anyone else, Cuba should just be able to enjoy many of freedoms we have.

I do understand Castro was the root of many horrors and their current economy is far far from ours. I would hope that the changes ahead of them do include new liberties, open trade, and a much better way of life. That would include free press, legally supported rights of all people, and much more that they are denied today. Those changes may be in the further off than more immediate changes. Castro and Saddam seem to have used very similar ways to control a nation. No one should have to live in such fear.

We don't have the same awareness, as I have never been there or have family ties. I am sorry your dad and family had to see their country become that way, and witness so much evil. I still hope that the freedoms and blessings they are sure to enjoy in the future will not be at the expense of what they do value in their culture. Maybe we could avoid teaching them all we know about telemarketing, identity theft, and MLC.
