I'm going to ask you two questions. It is important that you go with your very first gut answer. K? Don't read further til you answer. Say it outloud so you remember.

1). Did you THINK... did you BELIEVE... or did you KNOW you were a good hockey player?

2). When you first used the gratitude stones that the girls gave you, did you THINK, did you BELIEVE, or did you KNOW that the course of your thoughts changed from negative to positive?

Answer this and we'll continue. It is important to go in steps. Please, everyone, don't jump the gun on IC. Let him answer first.

I knew I was a good hockey player.

When I first used them, I believed they would - after using them... I know they did.

Since we've veered into spiritual territory ....

"I again saw under the sun that the race is not to the swift and the battle is not to the warriors, and neither is bread to the wise nor wealth to the discerning nor favor to men of ability; for time and chance overtake them all." Ecclesiastes 9:11

"Let no one say when he is tempted, 'I am being tempted by God,' for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one." James 1:13 (the chapter deals with the virtues of overcoming temptation or test but then goes on to say the above.)

And my favorite:

"who will separate us from Christ's love? will distress or anguish or persecution or hunger or nakedness or danger or the sword ....? in all these things we are overwhelmingly victorious through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life nor angels nor governments nor present conditions nor future nor powers nor height nor depth nor any other creature will be able to separate us from God's love in our Lord Christ Jesus." Romans 8:35,37-39

I think you'd be pretty safe sticking "cancer" on that list.

Hang in there, IC & Miss. You guys are both terrific.

The Gift of the Gratitude Stone.

A stone is a stone. It is what it is. It is nothing OTHER than what it is, and it knows that it is a rock.... until WE GIVE IT the power to be something else. Think of a diamond. It's a rock. It's the ultimate rock because we say it is.

In saying such.... WE give IT power. Otherwise, it is a rock.

The woman did not need the rock... because she KNEW. She could give it away because it was merely a rock. The GIFT OF THE ROCK is and will always BE INSIDE HER.

YOU have knowing. It is but a simple choice, which you have already proven to yourself.

The gratitude stone makes what is intangible, tangible. You can hold onto it, because you GIVE IT the power to be so. But never forget that YOU are the one who GAVE it in the first place.

You have a choice. And you KNOW you have it within you. When you get shakey, hang on to the rock. It makes it tangible.

Otherwise, you KNOW. You always have. You've had it in you, and it IS a gift. Thinking is for those who ponder. Belief is for those who hope. KNOWING is as tangible as a rock. It is.

YOU HAVE KNOWING. So play your game, even though it is a new, unknown team you are up against. I mean...... so? So fcking WHAT?! PLAY your game. Let IT worry about YOU.

Size of the opponent is a non-issue. What it looks like is a non-issue. What you KNOW, what you SEE in your mind... what YOU project and control, is all within YOU. Doesn't mean the score doesn't go up and down, doesn't mean you don't get time in the box.... YOU KEEP PLAYING.

Because you want to, because IF you go off that ice, it isn't because you didn't KNOW.

This is not a war you win with the body. Body follows mind. Mind follows spirit. Spirit is KNOWING.

And you already have it. You've had it for a long time. Being scared is just a part of the landscape. A gasp from the crowd. It doesn't calculate into the overall objective.

That is the Gift of the Gratitude Stone.

Corri,

I wanted to reply to your post...

I read your "Gift of the Gratitude Stone" to IC while he was busy cooking up some of his stew. I saw a pause in what he was busying himself doing and he got a little choked up {sorry IC for outing ya \:\) } He didn't have much to say...but you touched him...DEEP ! It wasn't long before the girls interupted things...but I saw that glint return to his eyes, God those eyes ! Thank you Corri \:\)

I was cleaning up after dinner and then went looking for IC...I found him cuddled up with our 3yr old laying on his chest, both sound asleep. I notice in his right...2 little, smooth, flat stones \:\) I went to take them and set them on the night stand...but without waking..that hand closed up tight \:\) No matter what happens now..I know now, that he is prepared.

Corri, give them boys a big hug for me \:\) Enjoy your Thanksgiving...you've just made ours a little more special - thank you ! (((((( Corri ))))))

Thank you everyone for your continued support...all of you ! We both agreed to take a few days off the board, just to enjoy.... being \:\)

I haven't been following along, so I don't know what kind of cancer you have or where you're at in your treatment. Just want to mention a couple of things:

- some chemo can affect your mood or your hormones. If you've been down, you might consider checking your thyroid and testosterone levels.

- vitamin D deficiency is common and is a powerful risk factor for cancer in general. Although it hasn't been proven yet with studies, it seems reasonable to think that correcting vitamin D deficiency might help someone survive cancer. Ask your doctor to check a "25-oh vitamin D" level. Work with your doctor if you need vitamin D replacement - vitamin D can raise calcium levels and with certain cancers that might be a problem. Sun exposure to raise vitamin D is generally safer, but if you live in a northern latitude you won't get enough UV at this time of year. Check out http://www.uvadvantage.org

Thanks Ellie,

I'm fairly early on in my treatment. Went for my first introductry visit through hell almost two weeks ago and had a few other issues on the plate (other than the chemo) that may have led to me feeling down as well.

The last couple days have been on the plus side, although a little difficulty sleeping tonight \:\/ Energy levels...so - so.. it kind of comes and goes. The thing that has thrown me for a loop is I get these bursts of energy...except at 2 or 3 in the morning and then at times when I would like more energy...I feel like a rag doll..go figure \:\)

I've got another doctor's appt. next week, I'll add your comments to my list of questions for them...Thanks Ellie \:\)

Corri,
Kid, what can I say...thank you doesn't quite get it, but Thank you ! Thank you for helping me get my head back in the game. I'm gonna play it MY way and let everything else worry about ME for a change. I'm winding up for a blazing slap shot...might break my stick and land on my azz..might miss the net altogether..but at least I'll know that nothing happened due to lack of effort \:\)

OK, now I'm tired...good night folks, or should I say good morning ?
