On the No More Mr. Nice Guy forums:

(subscriber) Has anyone thought about purpose. Sometimes I think that if I just find my deepest sense of purpose in the world and prusue it and not give two sh!ts about women for the time, women will arrive and be attracted. My guess is they are attracted to a man being a man more than anything else.

(Dr. Glover) I agree 100%. Women are the icing, not the cake. Be careful though in getting caught up in finding your "purpose". I've known guys who've made themselves miserable seeking their purpose. Just get up every day and do what excites you. That is your purpose.

I think that it is even possible/probable that a man who has found his "purpose" without labeling it as such might find himself saying something to a woman like "I guess I'm weird but..." and then telling her how following his personal preferences and learning from his unique experiences led to his current "weird" value structure, lifestyle or career choice. Amazingly, I think every man I have dated and liked has used that phrase while describing himself. Of course, it might just be that I like weird men.

Well, then I guess I like weird right along with you. This is one of those times, I actually GET you, lock, stock and barrel, and we don't have to have a week long conversation to arrive in Rome by different paths. \:\)

Depends on the cake. I'd guess if a good chef didn't have any icing, he could figure out a way to make a pretty tasty cake anyway. A lesser chef might get wrapped around the axle concentrating on the fact that a little bit of icing would make his mediocre cake so much more palatable and miss out on ideas that would improve the cake itself.

How's that for extending a metaphor?

Maybe it's more like brownies. I LOVE brownies. I like brownies much better than frosting. Double chocolate brownies r00l. I'd rather have double chocolate brownies than frosted brownies. But double chocolate frosted brownies are best of all.

And please...no nuts in the brownies. Seriously.

Raisin cookies are a cruel joke.

Good thing I just ate a bowl of Grape Nuts or I'd have to go out to 7-11 and buy a damb brownie. In my pajamas.

To each his own. I'm not much on sweets, but oatmeal raisin cookies, especially if they are still warm and soft are impossible for me to resist.

GP's Mama to his sisters :"A man's loving is always better on a full stomach."

GP's Father to him and his brother: "If you beat it, boys, you won't have to eat it."
