Damn - they locked my favorite thread....

Chronicalling

In keeping with my latest endeavor, that is to not analyze absolutely every feeling and event that occurs to me, I have decided that the preservation of certain events needed a proper title - hence: "chronicalling."

So, I am moving and I need boxes. I am intensely Scottish (really, I am, it's part of my ancestry) meaning I like very much not parting with my hard-earned money. It occurred to me that we might still have lots of boxes from our move from Chicago to this southern city. Problem is, I refuse to enter the attic without either (1) someone who will kill the large, southern-grown - overgrown - insects, or (2) certainty that what I need is both there and easily locatable. So, I sent Z an email because I knew he would know if we still had boxes and precisely where they would be found.

He called tonight to see if I had found the boxes. I thanked him, telling him I had found them and was ready to be on my way. He managed to keep me talking for about 30 minutes. He seemed to need to connect to someone he knows cares about him, at least that is what I sensed. Not really sure because I did not ask and I am not now analyzing.

He accidentally called me "sweetheart." I said nothing because it did not faze me. He apologized, which seemed humorous to me, as if he called me "bi!ch" or some such. I told him 13 years is a long time to develop a habit. It was truly no big deal to me.

On to me. I spent a lot of time today looking at doctoral programs in philosophy. When I was in college, that was the plan and then life happened. Well, I have learned that life will happen no matter what, so I had better pursue my dreams. Though I should have been working, it was truly energizing to read about these programs. I am such a diifferent person today than I was when I first thought about this twenty years ago. It is still just a plan in my mind, but it is now a solid plan - one I will not give up. Not sure when I can start or if I can do it full-time but I will do it. All part of my resolution to keep Veronica out of the shadows and in the light where she thrives.

{{{{V}}}}} how WONDERFUL you spent some time looking at that stuff and I hope you can get back into it, even if just a class or two at first or gung ho if you can \:\) That is wonderful!!

So when ARE you moving actually?! I know you had talked about your new place and I don't remember if you actually said, but sounds like it is coming up (maybe it was the first of March?) with you looking for boxes!! Had to LOL at the southern grown insects..YES..they are ridiculous aren't they? bleeehhhhh..

Hugs to you and you sound GOOD!

Tawnya,

Thanks. I am doing much better these last days. Acceptance, I think I am accepting things. We shall see...

As for moving, still waiting for a finalized separation agreement, then I can move. Probably more like middle March (no pun intended for the literary crowd).

As for bugs in the South - sweet mother of god. This place has things, bees or something, that are the size of hummingbirds and can carry off field mice. Never thought I would ever live in a place where I would have to say, "mind the snakes," to people bending down to sniff flowers in the courtyard behind my house. And Palmetto bugs - please - they are roaches, big, giant roaches that people have decided sound so much more appealing if called something other than roaches. I saw one last summer strolling along a sidewalk and the thing should have been on a leash. Ack.

I feel pretty certain that if I have not already mentioned this, you all now know with deep and abiding certainty, that Veronica is a city girl.

Veronica,

you know what jumped out at me from your post? That even cockroaches with pretty names can "stroll along a sidewalk" in the south...I never saw a roach strolling in New York...always seemed to be in as much of a hurry as everyone else.

....insects aside...though philosophy talk could quickly turn to Kafka...I think it's wonderful that you're already looking into other things you want to do with your renewed sense of self.

You sound very healthy and strong...

-Carlos.

Hey Carlos,

Yeah, we all move at a slower pace here in Dixie, even the roaches...

Kafka...insects...oh, my.

Thanks, I am feeling both healthy and strong.

I qualified for my new apartment today. The lease is being drawn, and because I am an attorney, I will, in all likelihood, treat myself far worse than I would any client and not spend more than ten seconds reviewing it before signing on the dotted line, as it were.

I get to move to my new place on March 13th - Friday the 13th to be more precise. I have decided that this bodes well. Don't argue with me, it just does because that is what I have decided. ;\)

Now, I have to find boxes and big burly dudes to lift ridiculously oversized and heavy furniture.

I am very excited to get into my new space. I know that it can only help me to be surrounded by a new place that is all mine and that represents my new beginning.

Carlos, do you think your mom would enjoy a trip to Charlotte to help me pack? I cannot seem to find anyone who wants to help me pack. I just do not get that....

LOLOL..I love that you are "going against the grain"..I too think Fri the 13th is just whatever..my daughter changed her hair color on Feb the 13th, from blond all 18 years of her life to a red/brown and LOVES it..so the 13th will be a GREAT moving day my friend \:\)

I can't BELIEVE you can't find people to help you pack..girl I'd so much rather help you pack than have to move boxes LOL ;\)

There's more....

The world's most amazing apartment is on the 14th floor and I think we all know that is really the...13th floor.

So, for all you Vonnegut fans, I have decided that the 13th floor on the 13th day is the wampeter around which I will meet my new granfalloon. And for those of you who now think I may have just gone nutty, read some Vonnegut - it'll put hair on your chest.

Okay, V...seems like a strong spirit has either taken up residence in your or finally come home again...either way it's good to hear that kind of positive energy in your words. I've not read Vonnegut since high school..perhaps it's time to revisit his stuff...

Let us know how things go with the apartment.
