Ew fig, you're tough.

She may have no choice. I'm sitting here paralyzed on the question of whether to call my insurance and find out if she is still covered or not.

Paralyzed?

Make the damn call. Sheesh.

Your wife is facing biopsies and you're facing a phone call.

Ahem....

Ok Bill, you've got to understand in my previous life I was a deer. I tend to freeze up in headlights, ya know? Reaching for the phone now.

By the way, she ain't my W anymore.

not tough
just practical

you can make the call

but

if she isn't covered she may qualify for medical assistance

it's not like you can add her to your insurance

good luck

You're right Sleeper. My mistake.

Don't call then. Just let her take care of it.

Since she's not your wife anymore.

I'll shut up now.

Sheesh.

Hey Bill,

Thanks for the reality check. My previous post to you sounds stern when I read it, not meant to be.

I'm taking care of business, called insurance, going by doc's for pre-approval stuff with insurance so it will be easier when she gets back.

Tuesday,

AM (X-W's first words to me):

"Dr. ________, called this morning. My PAP smear came back positive. I have to have a biopsy."

PM (X-W's last words to me):

"I've got a toenail fungus, look. I'm trying not to freak out."

Sleeper, I just wanted to chime in, hopefully it will help a little bit. I went through this exact thing, I had several positive pap smears, had a cone biopsy, and was treated for abnormal cells using liquid nitrogen, everything came out just fine (this was in my early 20's). Changes in cervical cells are usually detected extremely early, often years before they become'cancerous' so to speak. Try and reassure your wife the best you can, I know hearing the word 'positive' strikes such a fear, but the positive is that cervical abnormalities are extremely treatable with very positive outcomes.

My prayers are with you and your wife.

Charlie

Here's the deal.....

X-W not only has abnormal PAP smear, she tested positive for HPV and it's the strain that most commonly results in cancer.

With me 8 1/2 years; no HPV.

With OM 1 1/2 years; HPV.

Rocket scientist; not needed.

Yesterday I was in a state of shock. This AM I'm a little pissed. I'm pissed at OM. I'm pissed at X-W for having unprotected sex with this POG. Part of me wants to help her and part of me wants to wash my hands of her.

And it ain't no bed of roses in lala land. They were already having a "tiff" (her words). Yesterday Am she made the comment, "I'm not happy with the male of the species right now."

Once again I feel caught in a catch 22.
