Finally got around to checking my messages. One VM was from Idiot Ex. Remember, he had been calling Ash, who had told him she was with me in Florida. This time he was calling about Ryan and asking for the nurse. OK, first off - the nurses have their own phone number and he knows it. Second, we have had voice mail from the phone company for years. He carried on as if we had a machine - yelling into the phone "HELLO, HELLO - ANYBODY THERE??? Kaitlyn, I mean - oops that's not your name, I mean "Katy" - are you there - ANYBODY??? HELLO HELLO???" I had to laugh it was as if he was a drowning victim or something. Of course no one heard and no one can get my VM without the password. AND HE KNOWS THIS!!!

I just have to laugh. He is one sick puppy!

Hey,Barb, welcome back to the North country! Actually yesterday was great here but we are supposed to get a storm tonight and temp is to drop 30 degrees from yesterday!!!

My daughter is asking me daily ...or hourly.."when are we going to FL?"... I hope to go next mo but I really don't want to leave
the house "vulnerable" ... H has removed tools, etc and goes through every paper etc whenever I am not there and he is (rarely).
He removes important papers and just trashes all the work I have done which means resorting, etc to get to where I was (of course he would say he put everything back as is and would be shocked at my choice of the word "trashes" - he has relocated filing cabinets and files (some I believe off premise)- yes they are nuts! (hadda laugh @ your FL post - Chuck showin up for his visit in FL would be something a 'nut-case' would do !)
I am seeing another attorney next week - need an agreement or order of some kind.
Well, I have to go out today - need a few things - shoulda gone yesterday when it was warm.

Hi LSL!

No way your ex should be anywhere near your home while you are away. I would most definitely change the locks. What I always did when I didn't trust that Chuck wouldn't try to come in while I was away (despite the locks change), was to alert my neighbours and let them know I was away and if they saw any strange car (including his) to alert the police that an intruder was on premises. I suppose if the house is still in his name, though - it wouldn't help.

Florida was wonderful and I want to be there still. Next year I'll go for longer yet.

Chuck must have been here. I found 2 checks in my mailbox. Now that's not hard to take!

Hi Barbie,

It's been a long time since I have posted to you. I finished reading your thread and found out you were back in FL working vacation again and having the time of your life. And I see, Josh is still very much a part of your life. Wow!!! And your ex is still in Lalaland...Oh that is such a sweet revenge. What a swell life you now have. You and I are on the same page when it comes to cold though. I also hate it with passion. But I am now looking forward to retirement and spend it in the islands. I can't wait to spend time with my Mama. I will be back there in May for my yearly visit and get to be there for a month. I only have to have my son finish college next year and off I go...

Love,

Hope: How wonderful to hear from you! Yep - sounds like you've got the right idea.

Just this week I have been giving retirement some serious thought. I have worked at the dance school for 35 years and it is time. It is the only reason I came home last Sat and we've had 2 storms already! In the past week Ashley let me know that she will not be dancing next year (or working at the studio) and I am also losing one staff person to other commitments in her life. I have someone in the wings ready to take over for me and it seems my stars are starting to align. We had a good meeting today about it and I think it will happen.

Ahhhh - retirement to the islands...

Well, I'm still Canadian so I can only do a max of 6 months but with Josh's offer of a longtime vacation with him and my own desire for several weeks in Florida - I'm ready!

Great to hear from you and especially that your life is going so well.

Thanks for the affirmation, Pam. Everything about this decision feels right. I have had the thoughts of doing something different for years but there were always things that held me back - mostly things that involved doing something that was best for someone else. Ultimately, though, it was also best for me since I would have been lost had my career ended prior to my divorce.

But things are different now. I got past all that. It is time for a change.

Today was a good day. I took Ryan to the dr. It was supposed to be my appt but I gave it to him when the storm on Wed kept us home from his appt. In the parking lot I saw a tarnished penny. I picked it up (as I always do) and said my little good luck chant before going inside.

The dr got a new receptionist. Hallelujah! It is a great day. Some of you might recall my first visit to my new dr's office 5 months ago. I was told to go home, no record of my appt (after waiting 7 weeks). 2 weeks later I nearly died of extremely high blood pressure (bleeding out the eyes even) which could have been prevented if the receptionist had not screwed up my appt. Over the next couple of months she also gave a non-existent appt to Ashley who went when the office was closed despite the fact I'd been on the phone with her 2 hours earlier. She repeatedly lost test results for me. She NEVER returned my phone calls. She screwed up the phones by letting them go to VM when she was there. And when I made Ryan's appt a month ago she told me she had no record of him and didn't know who he was! I LOVE the new girl. (Frankly, I think I'd LOVE anyone else at this point).

Then after much rigmarole and running around, I have my contractor and salesperson lined up and we are going to go ahead with the building of Ryan's elevator!!! YEAH YEAH YEAH! I have scrimped and saved and sweat and swore over this elevator but it will totally make my home a better place. I won't have nurses tromping through the kitchen several times a day. And Ryan won't have to climb stairs or walk far when he's having a rough day walking.

It is snowing and it is just the beginning. We're in for another big one. Josh plans to come down tommorrow and mae slow roasted lamb. He won't let me provide anything. He always does this - shows up with ALL the food. Ya gotta love that guy!

I've been cleaning and organizing but also had time to do some crafts. I love that the days are getting longer. Heck - by next week we'll be on daylight savings time! YEAH!

So TGIF - let's get a good weekend started!

As ever you sound soo good Barb. Just wanted to know if you get more hours in your Canadian days than I do-gosh I get tired keeping up with your posts.
I have always had this tendancy to hibernate in winter but as I get older it has gotten worse and I guess part of the problem I don't have as much to do as I used to.
Enjoy your week -end, hope the Lamb and Josh make it to you.

This is really inspiring...go for it! I can so relate to how really providential it is to have hung on to a career...but now that you are past that, your enthusiasm about change that you are instigating is really infectious.

Have a good weekend.

Thanks AH!

I feel good. I feel happy. I feel like a major weight is about to be lifted off my shoulders. Now if we could just have Spring!

Josh called. The double storm tommorrow has him worried. To top it off - he has had a cold/bronchitis and missed a couple of days from work this week (never does that). I was sure he was going to cancel and it would have been understandable. But no = he has decided that no snow storm is going to stop him. He is going to take the train. He will have to leave at 7 AM. I told him it was ok if he stayed home this w/e but he insists. WOW - that's dedication!

On our first date, I remember driving in the rain to meet Josh. The wipers were going in time to the song on the radio. It was Celine Dion (told you I'm Canadian! LOL! - "I drove all night, to get to you. Is that alright?" Now it seems it is his turn.

It snowed all afternoon. The BIG storm comes in the morning, then another tommorrow night into morning. I've not been home from Florida for a week and I've had more winter this week than in several of the last couple of years combined!
