foldable kayaks are out of my budget.
who am I kidding? until renting commences, kayaks of all sorts are out of my budget!

I did buy a raised cedar garden bed on sale and put it together myself! I've just planted three hot peppers, two borage, and an eggplant. Trying to decide if I want to add my zuchs and summer squash as well as cukes ... or put them in somewhere else.

Just a tiny bit of outside work today was brutal. I'm going to go check on the ducks and chickens to make sure they're hydrated enough.

had a conversation yesterday which brought up something that I've deeply regretted and felt responsible for in my marriage. Happy to say I can now talk about it without emotion, just statement of fact, acceptance of my part and exh's. Nice to have that one behind me.

I'm cranking away on the move and the set up for the rental property. People ask me if I'm dating. Answer: not until I have the property squared away. No mental space for anything else or anyone else right now, and that's ok.

great news on the pup front for those interested: he's finished his radiation. We're two weeks out. Had a televisit with his oncologist who feels that my boy will very likely be growth-free by the end of the summer and it's likely to stay gone for the duration of his lifetime! I'm so glad I invested the $$ and time. He's definitely worth it!

I will need recommendations for window shelf cat beds. Anyone have any experience with those?

We have one but no idea of the brand. Cat used to use it a lot before we started letting him out in the back yard.

Good Morning bttrfly

I am very glad your doggy’s treatment went so well. What an awesome prognosis / outcome. Yay!

Two starflower borage
And an eggplant in a raised red cedar bed.

Four luscious zucchinis

quick pupdate and PSA:

serious symptoms started earlier last week, excessive drinking, lots and lots and lots of accidents, lethargy. verdict: diabetes.

a few hours after the second dose of insulin he was following me around while i cooked, begging for some of my dinner and best of all doing his little dance that he does when he's happy (this was last night).

So Grateful!

Here's the PSA (you'll want to keep reading): dogs get human grade insulin. Obviously this isn't something covered by insurance. They sent me to Walmart, because I needed a sharps container and the vet tech said prescriptions there are pretty inexpensive, but that one vial of insulin would cost around $300.

I talk to the pharmacist who is wondering why someone named (insert pet's name) is coming to her pharmacy with a prescription from a veterinarian. After I explained it to her she said I didn't need a prescription for the insulin ... and one bottle is $24.99!

Not $300, which is what I would have paid had I gone to CVS.

If you or your loved ones have regular prescriptions, please do yourself a favor and at least find out what it would cost to fill them at Wally world.

I'm the first person to tell you that I'm a snob and Wally world makes me itch - I have an aversion to big box anything, but this is astounding. They apparently have their own company, so it's their brand - pharmacist says it's the same as the brand I'd get at CVS, but orders of magnitude cheaper.

Hope it's ok to post this. If not, Cadet, Job, I apologize. I'm just gobsmacked that such disparity exists. I keep thinking of parents with children and bills and maybe one of their babies has diabetes and they're trying to afford to live and they don't know about this, or elderly people on fixed incomes. It's so wrong, and criminal not to make this known to others.

Thanks for tip bttrfly.

I’ve seen the same criminal-esk pricing with the dentist too.

Sorry about the pooch. Hopefully those accidents will cease as his water input and insulin level returns to normal.

It’s pretty amazing how quick an effect insulin has. Nice he was back to his old self and dancing. smile

Insulin is indeed one of the truly miracle cures out there. Glad that the diagnosis gave a good prognosis.

I've been meaning to ask - any news on Ody?

Ody is hanging with his women. He's living large, making noise frown and I'm not sure how to handle him given that I will be renting out the property he lives on ... and not moving the flock next door. So ...

I will keep you posted and TY for asking after him .
