Was he like this through out your marriage? Self absorbed, selfish, inconsiderate....probably not...yet he is like this now...despite saying that he wants to get back together. I vote for MLC...still going strong.
Him wanting to get back together...did you consider asking him to start slow with spending just weekends together as a family? To see how it goes? He must understand that you are scared to trust him to just have him move back home after what he has put the family through.

I think it's more of an age thing... My H was with me for 12 years and XW for 9, so that's 21 years total. But he's 43 and I see that age or around about it posted frequently.
It does seem there's a timeline of danger out there.

Echo this... Sounds MLC to me. My H I have questions about, he's had 3 As in two M's - and never had a triggering event like a death of a loved one... but this guy, your H, sounds classic.
SC Your H is in MLC, classic like was mentioned before. My H has said and did the SAME exact stuff your H is saying and doing. You are so smart for recognizing his actions. Don`t let him off the hook so easly. Keep standing up to your H. You`re doing great!!!
