I remember 2 years ago when he was diagnosed with cancer, how my heart ached for his family. At the same time I was in so much pain, from Javier leaving us.
I spent last saturday with Papu, visiting with him at his home, and he told me Lissie, you good girl, you make me proud , I kissed his forhead, and told him I loved him.
Tonight at the wake, his beautiful wife Maria of 56 years wanted me to sit next to her, I didn't want to.
But, she didn't let go of my hand.
I sat there, and I was thinking to myslef, when Javier dies, i wont be the one that will be by him, people won't be coming up to me and saying beautiful things to me and kissing and hugging me, ( I just assumed that he would die before me )
The Greek Priest came in, and said some words, and it was all Greek to me.
Then he said them in English and he said
Here stands Maria, she is a proud wife. She was blessed with a husband that adored his family.
Then the light bulb went off, well yeah, they really wouldn't be saying any of those things about Javier, so it is best that i wouldn't be the one sitting there.
I love that I met Papu. Another wonderful man, that loved, and did for others. And in return was just adored.
It matters how we are, and how we act in life. It really does matter.
RIP in Papu.
