Possible you're putting on muscle weight, and actually losing fat? I gained weight when I was exercising and in my top form, because I was muscular and as well you know, muscle weighs more than fat.

I'm cheering you on - I've got 15 pounds left to lose from baby. Mine's going to come off a lot more slowly, though - the only exercise I'm getting is walking these days...

Although it's certainly possible I've swapped a pound or two of fat for muscle, I don't tend to "bulk up" easily, so I'm not one of those people who gains a lot of muscle. (Actually, I used to be so frustrated that I would lift weights but not build any muscle, that's one thing that did improve somewhat after the radioactive iodine treatment.) And my clothes aren't any looser.

Believe me, I've thought of every possible rationalization for why the scale wasn't budging, but after 2 months of frequent tough exercise and excellent eating habits, I'm facing the fact that something more has to be going on here.
(I have food diaries from the last time I lost weight, so I can easily compare what I ate and my workouts then versus now.)

I know how hard it is to exercise with a baby, but if you have room in your apartment to do an exercise tape, that's one possibility. Don't forget part of that 15 lbs. is in your bra

Hi Ellie.

Keep it up, I know you'll get to where you want to be.

I haven't been here much lately, and I wanted to stop by to say hello. My absence from the bb will probably continue (maybe I finally grew up?)? I made a post about all that.

I wanted to come by and thank you for all the nuggets of wisdom you've left me. You are a true gem to everyone you touch here on the bb. Please remember that!

Love,
MAL

To all my buddies -
Not that I think avian flu is an immediate threat or anything - but should it develop into one in the next few years - just wanted to share with you some research suggesting elderberry syrup is an effective treatment for flu. Since drug resistance is a problem, and drug availability will definitely become a problem if there is a pandemic, thought this might be worth tucking in your memory banks:

it seems that I only post here for medical advise. That is not my intent. I was told that c-sections affect you hormonally. Any insight?
Curious, I had two, if I can add that to my list of excuses, I should be in the clear for guilt in my marital demise

Sorry, c-sections don't do anything to you hormonally - you really don't even get anywhere near the ovaries. Pregnancy and the postpartum hormonal changes though - that's another matter. Lots of women seem to experience libido problems after they start having kids. Could be the obvious - it's the KIDS. Could be hormonal - whatever hormonal shifts do to cause postpartum depression could also affect libido. Thyroid problems also often crop up in the time period and frequently go undiagnosed.

But sorry - you can cross the c-section off your list.

Sorry honey not my libido, just my thyroid
Sorry honey not depressed, just my thyroid

Ellie, can you tell me what you think, or direct me to good information about surgery that stops menstrual bleeding? I think it's 'ablation'? I should have asked for more info when the doctor suggested it for me, but I just thought he was nuts at the time. Now I wonder about it. One more thing I'm getting tired of putting up with.

Sorry to jump in at a serious time,
just want to yell HIYA! at Ellie and
relay that I'm happily settled in
my piney house for the winter.

Things between Redhead and me smooth and REAL.

But also new love on my horizon, many changes.

Ellie: I loved your SUPER summary, it made me wistful
and PROUD of ya, grrrlfriend. I'll try to recap my sitch
sometime soon, now that I'm settled.

Still Hopeful Bridget

PS May Ellie's good advice heal again!
