or I should say just a job

but Huey Lewis didn't write that song!!!

anyway

I have a phone interview at 5 today (think positive)

and

I have been trying to get a hold of the recruiter in Nebraska

just makes sense to move there

now...
if she would just call me back

and
i have to bring Hardy#1 to the dentist

he cracked his tooth

again

thank goodness for MNCare

and

(all idle chitchat welcome) ;\)

also
any ideas on keeping linen pants wrinkle free?

they are my interview pants and it I sit in them for 5 mins they are wrinkled

ugh
Posted By: BigHands Re: I want a new job - 07/02/08 06:29 PM
Irish car bomb, please.

And no chit-chat is ever idle. We learn by communicating.

And, linen doesn't wrinkle when submersed in water.

Good Luck Figgy!!!

So , umm why do you care if your linen pants are wrinkled if its a phone interview???? \:\)

and

I like the way you think and how you express yourself and
I think you should run for office!!!
Posted By: BigHands Re: I want a new job - 07/02/08 06:49 PM
I think Karen deserves a car bomb too!

Yeah!!! she does!!! lol
Posted By: fig Re: I want a new job - 07/02/08 09:02 PM
yeah Karen!!!

a car bomb!!!

ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

that doesn't sound good written out like that, huh???

and

I like to look nice even over the phone but really I was asking for when I actually get called to go IN for an interview!!!

Hey Figgy, my mentor always told me that a phone interview should be treated as any other interview is treated. Dressing up for a phone interview puts you in the correct mindset for the interviewer.

I have done it both ways and I am much more effective when dressed up for the phone interview.

Good luck today...

fig

You are contageous. You have Ian "figgying"

Good luck on the job call. As for linen, shop for something new to worry about. But if you still want the linen, can you carry your dry cleaning bag of pants with you and find a place to slip them on just before going in for the interview?

Think of them as your secret super powers pants and race into the nearest cleanest public rest room ... then Tadda ... SuperFiggy!!!!

Yes, this is good!!!

Figgy, I hate linen for the very reason you mentioned. I say, go get a pair of cheap pants that don't wrinkle and stop worrying about wrinkles......well, until you get to "that age." You know, Beth & Karen's age........

Does that mean I'd have to wear shoes?
Posted By: attorneytom Re: I want a new job - 07/02/08 11:27 PM
Possibly..? I never was the interviewee in a phone interview.. but I was the interviewer.. that would be the first question I would ask though.. " Hi.. Are you wearing shoes ?".. um.. that sort of thing.. jsyk.

Tom

Hope it went well there today figster !

I cannot believe qoe went there with Bethie..... she is gonna have a field day.........

So fig...........

Hope all went well with the interview. Sorry I'm so late in wishing you luck. I tried to get back here earlier but lots going on at home and work. Anyway, I'm sure you could feel the good vibes radiating your way.

Did someone mention my name? Oh it was Jill, of course. Ian not to worry. In her demented state she forgets that she is older. I think she must have forgotten to take her medicine again...

WOW NH what a coincidence. Jill always says, "When I was young".....that's it. That's as far as she ever gets. She never can remember where she was going with that.....but I think it has something to do with dirt, or rolling in the dirt or just that she's plain dirty.

fig

We knew the "right" job would come your way, if only you could keep from going crazy while looking. Congrats.

And it sounds like you have actually found a much better fitting institution and staff to join. How wonderful for ya! You will surely win them over and be a valued partner as long as you choose to stay.

Think back about how things that weren't meant to be, don't work. I recall you wanting a house so bad you couldn't stand it.

Think forward about how things that are meant to be, eventually work. Now you know what kind of house you will look for when the time is right. No rush. Move. Teach. Love. Then find a house when you are ready. Be glad you don't have to try and sell one right now. Be glad you don't have to spend another year with the Putz School that did not appreciate what they had.

BTW... you must know they won't be able to find a replacement that will engage the kid's minds the way you did. It will take them a year to see their mistake ... too late.

I'm sure that moving will be it's whole new thread \:\)

Hey guys. Figgy's been busy the past few days, and with no web access at home, that leaves her unable to update.

She's been offered that job, in what looks like a pretty neat little area. And, it looks like there are serious job possibilities for someone else too

So, now she's getting her ducks in a row.

Woot to Figgy!!!

:-^
Posted By: BethM Re: I want a new job - 07/08/08 06:53 PM
HEY YOU...YEAH YOU....

I see you over there. Get the heck over here to your thread and spill. We want every little detail...........
Posted By: fig Re: I want a new job - 07/08/08 07:21 PM
heeeeheeeeeeeeeeee

I am at Panera ( with their overpriced coffee drinks that I will nurse until the cows come home)

OK

the school is tiny
and

the superintendent made me actually cry with happiness

I explained that my sweet baboo will be moving and she suggested places for him to work that are in his area!!!!

siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh

all the kittens will be in elementary school together...middle school and highschool are in the same building

very small staff

but

super nice

and

they are mailing me a phone book and newspapers and the superintendent has been calling the banks to see if there are any houses available to rent...

It is is the little triangle part of mn that connects with N Dakota and S Dakota

and

there are lakes

and

of course now the schools are calling like gangbusters to get me in for interviews

i may go on one
for a prep school that would be outstanding for the kids

but I feel as though it would not be such a good fit as this school
and
i feel badly for even thinking about it as this school has been so sweet

and

it is a 6/7th position which means that I don't have to get to work until 9:15ish
and
i start at 34000

which seems small potatos except that that is more than I was making working full time at my last school

I was the speech coach and prom advisor and all that so that added to my salary and I always taught an extra class so it worked out to be more but I will be prom advisor at this school
and
i will be able to help out with speech and theater

and

houses in the area are around 40000 so the possibility to own eventually is good

and

the crime rate is nil

and

I hate packing and moving but the idea of the adventure is beginning to grow on me

and

i have to remember to breathe

Well personally I love Panera, but I didn't realize that they had faulty internet. I know it must be them cause it surely can't be you!

Anyway, I'm so excited for you. Good things come to good people! Oh by the way, I don't think there is anything wrong with talking to other schools. This is your future and it is business, ya know............
Posted By: sgctxok Re: I want a new job - 07/08/08 11:16 PM

and I guess, being the parent on the board....what are your intentions for our fig?

Right on, Fig!

I am so happy for you and so happy for BH and you.

And it's okay if do decide to go somewhere else. Either way, you have to do what is best for you and your boys. Them being nice shouldn't hold you back if you have doubts. Not saying that you do but you know what I mean.

Anyhow, leap into this adventure with gusto and faith. All will be good!
Posted By: BethM Re: I want a new job - 07/09/08 01:04 AM
Oh I almost forgot to ask, what did the boys have to say about all of this?
Posted By: Trip Re: I want a new job - 07/09/08 01:07 AM
Good question, Bethie!
Posted By: fig Re: I want a new job - 07/09/08 02:13 AM
they are so excited!!!!

the mascot is the wolverines so that gets them all giddy

and

they are up for the adventure

and

when asked

they said they didn't want me to interview at the prep school in the cities

they like smaller towns where they can ride their bikes and walk to the lake

so

i am still contemplating interviewing

it seems like a really good fit

the prep school's main draw is the education it offers to the kidlets
Posted By: whatisis Re: I want a new job - 07/09/08 03:13 AM
Way to go, Fig...the cream always rises to the top! \:\)
Posted By: Virtually_Handsome Re: I want a new job - 07/09/08 03:40 AM
Do the interview. Not because you want the job, but to get yourself exposed. You never know when it might pay off.

I think living in a small town where they can ride their bikes, and walk tot he lake will be more beneficial to their education than anything a prep school can do. I have always believed you learn more important stuff at home than you do at school.

I'm happy for you, fig!
Posted By: Trip Re: I want a new job - 07/09/08 05:25 AM

Can't wait to hear what drama found it's way into her life today!

Yikes!!!!! \:o

packing

the sweet baboo is bringing 150 boxes for me to start packing with in 3 days :-^

and

i bought packing tape today

blech

I hate packing

and...hey FA....did you hear that it is by a lake!!!!!

I am living the good life

So I have this friend that is making me mental.
she is nice person
but a little bit of a kook

like she has been praying for a husband for 8 years
and
she is one of those snake handling, holy rollers, tongue talkers (and talking in tongues doesn't mean gibberish...it means speaking in a real language that someone else can understand but that you don't know.....sorry...my pet peeve)

anyway

she won't leave me alone

for example
today is Hardy #2's b-day (double digits...siiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh)

and

she has called 3 times to see if he can play over there
each time I said no it is his birthday and we are doing stuff together

she keeps asking

she also asked if she could keep him when we moved
and
she wasn't joking

and

we are going on vacation with her this week

AND

I am tired of playing nancy fricken drew
the guy she is sort of seeing is a sort of friend of mine but now it appears as though he is macking on other friends of mine and so I feel like I should tell her but she believes that he is a gift from God to her

someone give me a stiff drink and some calgon please
Posted By: BethM Re: I want a new job - 07/16/08 12:39 AM
HAPPY BIRTHDAY HARDY #2

HAHAHA.....never a dull moment!!!

Well let me ask a very STUPID question (duh), why are you going away with her if she's such a nutbag?

Don't feel bad for your friend. Someone has to inherit this crazy, and since you don't want to take her with you, your friend will have to figure this out for herself. Just think, she'll never forget you for this.

Moving and packing...ahhh I remember it well. Mostly I remember how much I hate doing it. It will all be a distant memory soon and hopefully you won't be doing it again for a very long time!

Love,
Bethie

I am not sure if FA knows about the lake. I can't remember if I told him. Did you tell him, BH?

GOOD MORNING!!!!!

It's so much nicer to come to the board and see you here, but why are you up? You could stay in bed and enjoy your life of leisure (which is exactly what I would do), but instead you're up, and very chipper I might add. Cut BH a break. He is a guy ya' know!

Love,
Bethie

my bank tarded up
or at least that is what I have to think
and
i have been trying to log on to their online version (which they just got)

unfortunately

they seem to think that any and all email addresses are invalid

they are going to get fire bombed soon
Posted By: BigHands Re: I want a new job - 07/16/08 01:12 PM
I'm a tard. It's just a little river, called the Minnesota River. It's only a tributary of the Mississippi River.

I am getting ready to hit the road. You know, I got to do my girly stuff before heading out.
