Masks reduce the number of droplets released into the air by an infected person and hence directly reduce the probability of infecting others. Is it possible a masked person can infect others? Absolutely, but the probability is significantly lower than if they were unmasked.

The minute you touch something after washing your hands, germs get onto your hands again. Does that mean we stop washing our hands after using the toilet? A lot of these decisions are based on statistics and reducing the probability of an event happening. The same is true with masks. This is basic common sense and the arguments against masking are just silly.
