NMMNG arrived today. I read it quickly.

I was expecting to find it trite, but not so much. I like this book but would like to see the studies that back some of the assertions.

Had trouble with Venus and Mars and His needs Her needs as when I researched the backing studies many of the basic premises were based on differences with no standard significance. The sexual differences used to define behavioural differences were statistically insignificant which to my mind invalidates much of the argument. Besides books on comparatives do not show how two individuals placed on a bell shaped curve interact.

NMMNG seemed a little more grounded but I would have liked to see more studies and data to back it rather than just opinion. At least it could apply to both sexes, in the modern world. One of the basic premises that schools are dominated by women and that is one of the current source of the problem is slightly off kilter as stats show that there are more male teachers in the last 20 years than ever before. And as for single parent families headed by women that does not hold either as in Europe after the First World War the portion was greater.

Was not keen on the overbearing mother syndrome either and there is a lot of material there which needs referencing to studies, which already exist.

But it is well written and easy to understand. Not as good as DR and DB though!

I am happy to be shot down in flames......

Another disappointing evening with H.

H feels abandoned, or so he says, so last night made a roast dinner.

Started with my arrival home with the shopping, I had bought Easter eggs for the grandchildren.

H : why have you left this shopping loose in the car? for gods sake?
H stuffs the shopping in a bag and crushes Easter eggs.

V STFU

Then
V brings in the roasting tin which has been draining in the garden

H: I hope you are not going to use that? You are disgusting!

V STFU

Then

V: what vegetables would you like? Cauliflower cheese?
H: it's too late for cauliflower cheese, that's a big meal, I do not like eating this late. I have told you blah blah blah
Spew spew

V: H stop. Stop. Since I have come home this evening I think that I am being abused and It has to stop. I can chose to cancel the roast and do something else. pasta perhaps?
H: I want the roast
V: Ok without cauliflower cheese

Then H went to the pub for an hour and a half.
We ate
Then H went to watch England play

V feels abandoned, another boundary breached.

This morning

V: Ican I talk to you please about last night?
H: OK
V: I felt adandoned last night, I cooked a meal for us and you went to the pub and then watched the England game. I had the opportunity to go out, in future if you have your evening planned please advise me and I can make other plans.
H: OK seems resonable,
V: you can put it on the calendar. I put my movements on the calendar
H: I do not look at the calendar
V: that was what we agreed a week or so ago
H: I do not remember that

H has gone to golf.

Enforcing boundaries is hard.
